I am not a vegan or a vegetarian. but I do think farm animals should be treated better during their short lives.

Please read my article on chickens, it’s not an easy read but there are no distressing images.

Chickens are some of the most abused animals on the planet - they suffer so immensely in such great numbers. The extremely cramped conditions chickens live in are a huge part of the reason why their lives are so miserable. And this is of course due to the fact that people eat so much chicken. Cutting back on meat is something that we absolutely must do as a society, both for environmental and animal welfare-related reasons.

Great post. I love lesson 9. There are so many aspects of veganism that are important, but among the most important is certainly avoiding unnecessary animal cruelty.

I love finding fellow vegans here on Substack!

Same! Is it just me, or are there not that many of us? I feel like there are a handful of vegans and I already subscribe to them all. But maybe I'm missing some.

I am feeling there are not that many of us. But that can change!

I hate you for #10, haha! In all seriousness, this was a fabulous read. I especially loved your distinction between EASY and SIMPLE - super important and totally stealing! Something else I liked was the mention of going to animal sanctuaries. Seeing those that could have been victims (or if we're going one up, the actual victims) is powerful. Anyways, love this format and can't wait to read (or re-read) thirteen lessons! ;D

Thanks so much! Yeah I've thought about that a lot, how things that are simple aren't always necessarily easy. But once you have that "why" (number four, which just might be the most important lesson), it's...simple.
