I agree with your points about being (semi) naked in public for protest. My question around this tactic is if it is effective or not. Should be be okay for someone to be as they wish in public? Probably. Should we be telling others what to do with their bodies? No. But does being naked in public help the animals? That's a question I'd love to know the answer to. It is probably very difficult to figure that out!
I'm of the idea that pretty much all forms of activism have the potential to be effective. It depends on many factors, but I'm usually in favour of anyone standing up for a cause in whatever way they see fit, as long as it isn't harming any living being. In this case, I got to do a video interview with a huge Swedish news outlet, where I got to discuss the reasons why I'd rather go naked than wear animals, which could inspire other people to get educated and move away from using cruelly made fashion. So yes, I'd say in this case it was effective!
Thank you for all you do for animals. I loved reading this article which is filled with so much food for thought. Way beyond getting naked.
I was shocked to read that fur, feathers and skin are still used in the fashion industry. I thought we were finally past that and in fact I’m surprised it isn’t banned yet. But then I think of all the non-brand fashion items that use leather - cow/pig/deer skin - most people don’t question that at all.
Many of the non-vegan people I know are against fur in fashion. Yet interestingly, leather is acceptable to them. It’s for them about protecting ‘rare’ species. While a cow or pig is still a commodity.
I also liked your contemplations on nakedness. 👏👏 it’s just a body. We all have one. There is nothing sinful about it. And we want freedom for our bodies. And with that the freedom of the bodies of all sentient beings.
And finally I loved the display of bodies painted in their country flags. Such a beautiful, playful and peaceful way to demonstrate.
I applaud you and every body that stood in that square in Paris.
Thanks so much for your kind words! The divide in public opinion when it comes to fur and leather is long-standing and difficult to get rid of. I've encountered many excuses along the lines of "but we eat cows and pigs", which in my opinion is no more justified than wearing them. Food isn't this holy grail that justifies everything. We could very, very easily avoid eating cows and pigs. It's really not that much harder than...not wearing fur.
I loved the idea of being painted in country flags too! It looked so colourful and felt so powerful.

" I got to discuss the reasons why I'd rather go naked than wear animals" - Love this!
I applaud you Sascha, standing up for animals the way that you do. If there is ever an opportunity I would stand shoulder to shoulder with you. 💚
Thank you! I hope that such an opportunity will come :)
