It's quite nice and sturdy! The brand I bought from is called Thamon, and they use discarded banana tree leaves (I believe) from Thailand. It's quite a cool process and gives local farmers an extra source of income.
Thank you for this post! It's one of my pet peeves when people immediately assume vegan leather is plastic when there are so many cool alternatives out there. I have some leaf leather in my collection, which creates a really beautiful texture (you can see the lines of the original leaves). Mirum is on my list too though!
Absolutely agree! I’m the founder of a new handbag brand called LOUÉ studio and I use MIRUM in some of my styles and customers love it. It’s very supple and luxurious. Other incredible materials are Elevate, Innovera suede and so many more. Such an exciting space 🪄
I know, I really can't stand the "cow skin or plastic" thing. There is so much more out there - that argument is so dated. What's the leaf leather like? I'm really curious about that.
Loved this article, Sascha, particularly because these items are already in your closet.
I know, I'm lucky to own all of these. They've lasted a long time too!

I know that brand! That material looks really interesting.
